POCKET POSTIES CAMPAIGN STILL GOING STRONG!!! Hello! Yes, the campaign is quietly working behind the scenes during the
making more little Pocket Posties for our fellow Canadians. Be sure to check back for updates as the summer progresses. You
may request packets of unsigned cards from any of the CANADIAN CONTACTS listed up on the left hand side of your screen. Our
goal is to see many of these little cards reach our troops. Join us in showing honour to brave men and women who have chosen

a career to protect us. Remember our troops this summer! Thank you!a career to protect us. Remember our troops this summer!
Thank you!
August Update: Ahhhhh, the good old summer time!!! Yes, we Canadians are enjoying a truly warm, wonderful summer. Many of
us can be found sitting around the camps, sharing stories of days long past. Still, for others the summer is a vacation to what our
beautiful country offers. From Prince Edward Island to British Columbia Canada has come alive. Many will be found going to
Canada's Wonderland, Niagra Falls, Wasaga Beach, rock climbing on the mountains in British Columbia, hiking on the Quebec
trails, strolling down the streets of Ottawa, Ontario, biking in Alberta, Manitoba, or Saskachewan, going to music festivals in Nova
Scotia, sailing off the shores of New Brunswick or Newfoundland and Labbrador, discovering culture in Nunavuk,, the Yukon and
the Northwest Territories and so much more. Our children run free laughing, playing enjoying their youth.
But in some quiet little communities there's a rumbling going on, plans are emerging, e-mails sent back and forth.......yes, a
second campaign with the Pocket Posties is progressing along. We will not forget our troops overseas. The Christmas Campaign
is well under way. The little Canadian Posties flags will once again hit the town, cities and communities, our schools, and public
places. Please take time to stop and send a troop a warm Christmas greeting. It's the least we can do to thank them for a summer
of freedom and fun. Honor our troops today!

THANK YOU On behalf of all those involved with the "Our Troops - We will Remember" Pocket Posties Campaign we would like
to say MANY thanks to all of you who took the time to stop and sign the posties. A total of 1,775 troops will be most happy when
they receive a little pocket posties from back home. This will give the soldiers the boost they need to keep on doing their job in
not only helping others in the world, but for protecting their homeland. We wish them well during their tour of duty.
To all the schools, Sunday schools, online group friends, neighbors and family we wish to say many thanks for all of your
support. From the West to the East thank you for participating. We hope you will continue supporting us in the Pocket Posties
Campaign as it rolls into it's second round. It is your involvement that makes all the difference.
Finally, to all those who took heed to the call to campaign my most heartfelt thanks to each one of you. The soldiers have some
wonderful people working in their honor. To Lynn Bulloch of CTV News thank you for seeing our Campaign as a story well worth
reporting. Thank you to the Captains who have so graciously took time to respond to my letters. Stay safe! DK/07
Thank you Campaign leaders, you did a great job!
Annette Higdon - Christmas
Campaign leader in
Newfoundland, Canada
Working on the Pocket
Posties for the troops.
Posties decorated for the holiday season.
These brightly decorated posties were
sent in from Cynthia, of Sudbury, ON one
the Pocket Posties Christmas Campaign.
Many thanks for all your hard work!
In "The Compass" newspaper down on "the rock,"in NLFD an
women," by Lillian Simmons a reporterwas written up on
September 11, 2007. She interviewed our very own Annette
Higdon with regards to the "Pocket Posties" and her involvement
with the campaign and her reasons as to why such an interest?
This is a very well written article that covered all basis as to what
Pocket Posties is about. We would like to thank Liillian Simmons
Annette also found herself being interviewed on the local station
down in the NFLD area. An excellent and well researched
interview. Many thanks!
We hope this exposure will find other Canadians picking up the
call to help out in signing the Pocket Posties for our troops!

Don't forget to check in for the 2008 Campaign updates from Russell, Manitoba.
Judy Preston will be our leader, let's make the effort to give a few minutes of our time and sign a few pocket posties for
those on the field!! E-mail Judy at prestons@mts.net for more information or e-mail any of the other campaigners on the
upper left hand side. Just click on their name! It's as easy as that!
"The life of a soldier is not easy. We keep
alive because of your support and our
family."
Warrant Officer Hani Massouh
Royal 22nd Regiment,
born in Alexandria, Egypt
These were Hani's words in a letter sent with
thanks for our support during the Christmas
season. Shortly there after this fine soldier
described "as one who truly cared" was killed
in Afghanistan. He will never be forgotten.
Thank you for serving our country. May he be
our Angel Soldier keeping watch over all the
troops wherever they may be.

"Thank you for all your support. We all appreciate it and it makes us stronger." These words were e-mailed recently from a soldier serving in Afghanistan. Attached was this picture that speaks a thousand words. It is a group picture of the maintainers of the National Support Element. These fine troops are kept very busy repairing everything that breaks!
This is what "Pocket Posties" is all about. It's also why each and every one of us takes the time to make the cards, get them signed and sent overseas. We hope you will join us as we begin our 3rd Campaign in February 2008. Let's continue to keep our troops feeling stronger. We are the force behind every soldier on the field. Merci and thanks to everyone who signed a card for the Christmas round.

Heroes
Dorothy Krusky
They are the heroes
in a land overseas
our soldiers help build
water wells you see.
They walk down dirt roads
danger lurks not far away,
our soldiers be-friend
the villagers who stay.
They share with little ones
eager smiles the children give,
our soldiers reach out to the old
it’s a way to help the people to live.
Yes, they are the heroes
to their loved ones back home
our soldiers always prepared to go
leaving their family alone.
The troops are well respected
for a career they did choose.
Our soldiers walk with great pride
this fine country cannot lose.
Every day they are to be honoured
for all the work that they do
our soldiers will always remain
the protectors of the land for you.
They are Canada’s heroes
let us NEVER forget
our soldiers who are on tour
a foreign country they protect.

Pictured above and below are pictures of Captain Larose interacting with the
children in the southern part of Kandahar. The troops were visiting the area
to build a well so the poor people in the village would have fresh water.
Since Captain Larose was the only female on the convoy the elder wanted
her to meet the children. You can see by their smiles that both the boys and
girls were most pleased in meeting the Captain. This is a part of the war the
media tends to overlook and we thank Captain Larose for sharing these
wonderful pictures with us! Stay safe!
A picture is worth a thousand words. Sit back and really look at all of those who served in the war past and present.
“You are doing a lot for the troops, we really appreciate it!”
Captain Catherine Larose
“I know we are making a difference over here and we all hope to make you proud back home. Thank you.”
Pte. Allen Jewell
“Canadian soldiers do a noble work in Afghanistan. We all, thank each Canadian for their support to us.”
Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class
Mario Richard
“Thank you for your support. We enjoy mail call here as it is like Christmas. We never know what is going to show up.”
SSM G Banford
UPDATE
In the Swan Valley Star and Times of Swan River, Manitoba there was printed a recent article titled "Program lets you write letters to our soldiers." The reporter Twyla Zagrobelny interviewed Helen Prieston, a resident of the area. This article worked two-fold in getting the news out about both the "Pocket Posties" and the "Chosen Soldier" program. We extend many thanks to Twyla Zagrobelny and Helen Prieston, who has been most active in both campaigns. It is this sort of exposure that helps in reaching out to Canadians. Let's keep the little Pocket Posties cards circulating! Well done!
